Spring Food For Fines

National Library Week (April 13th-18th) is upon us!

During this time we like to try and celebrate by giving back to both you (our patrons) and the community. We will be having a week long food drive called Food for Fines. All you have to do is bring in any non-perishable food item, and we will take off $1. If you bring in more than one item, we will take off more than $1! So if you have found yourself not in our good graces, this is a way to correct that. However we cannot accept everything. Here’s a list of things we can’t take:

  • Kool-Aid packets
  • Individual drink mixes
  • Seasoning packets
  • Expired/Out-of-date food

All the food that will be collected will stay within the community. We will be donating it to the REACH ministry in Yorktown. They specialize in distributing food, laundry detergent, personal hygiene items, and more to needy people and families in the Yorktown community. All they ask is that you bring a valid ID showing you live in the area to one of their monthly distributions. The one for April will be on Saturday, April 18th from 9 till 11. For more information, check out their Facebook<add link> page.

So help us support this great community outreach for this year’s Spring Food for Fines.
